Drive north through Sri Lanka's heartland to Dambulla and visit the magnificent Golden Cave Temple — a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring five ancient cave sanctuaries adorned with over 150 gilded Buddha statues and stunning murals dating back over 2,000 years. Check in to your hotel near Sigiriya and enjoy a welcome dinner.
Rise early for a sunrise climb of the legendary Sigiriya Lion Rock (480m). Admire the 5th-century frescoes known as the "Cloud Maidens" and marvel at the panoramic views from the summit. After breakfast, drive through scenic countryside to Kandy — Sri Lanka's cultural capital. In the evening, witness an electrifying Kandyan cultural performance featuring traditional drumming, fire dancing, and acrobatics.
Begin the day at the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic. Stroll through the sprawling Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, home to over 4,000 species of plants. Visit a fragrant spice garden and enjoy complimentary herbal tea with an optional head massage. Explore a gem museum, batik factory, and traditional art & craft centre before returning to your hotel.
Drive through breathtaking tea-carpeted highlands to Nuwara Eliya at 1,868m elevation. Tour a working tea factory, learn how Ceylon Tea is processed from leaf to cup, and enjoy a tasting. Continue through misty mountain scenery to the charming village of Ella, nestled in a valley surrounded by rolling hills.
Start with a sunrise hike to Little Adam's Peak for sweeping valley views, then visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge. Drive south to Yala National Park, home to the world's highest density of leopards. Embark on a thrilling afternoon jeep safari to spot leopards, elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and over 200 species of birds. Overnight in Tissamaharama.
Rise before dawn for an early morning whale watching boat trip from Mirissa — one of the world's premier sites for blue whales, sperm whales, and spinner dolphins.
